We fished Manistee on Sunday morning/evening and Monday morning (between storms)
After the north blow on Saturday, fish were scattered. However, we found a pod of them on the 14.3 line in 295 fow. We took a double on each of our two passes and landed 3 for 4 on an east troll. West troll produced zero. Fish came on the meat rigs shown in this pic down 187 over 295 (black mamba glow w/red double glow 3fly rig, Secret one with crome/green 3fly rig). Trolling speed was 2.9 on the GPS. Saw no fish from the 16's and north on the bank.
About the time I figured out a program, the boys bugged me to go swimming. So we beached the Getaway and hit the sandunes.
Had to take a quick pic after jumping over.
Fished Saturday night for a couple hours before the storms started rolling in. Tried familiarizing myself with the area of the 17's and north.....no fish at all up there right now.
Sunday morning, the fish were heavy in front of the harbor and slightly south. Caught 6 thick healthy kings in the 12-14# class in between storms. All fish came on meat again.
Chrome BTI/red 2-fly rig, Gold BTI gold fly rig, Secret One 12" flasher/chrome-green tape 3 fly rig.
All fish came in 35-42 fow in front of the harbor, 25 down on riggers and on 5 color lead. All on meat in shallow.
We also ended up with a nice little bag of pan fish off the dock on Sunday. Here's Andy with one of the perch he caught. We ended up with a nice pile of perch, gills and rock bass for the fryer.
Cool pic of the boat and my old man smoking his pipe.
Had a blast in Manistee. Those storms were a little spooky though. I felt like a yo yo trying to keep away from them.
